Recovery is Not a Solitary Process

“My life is full because of my sobriety, not in spite of it.”

I love being in recovery. So many newcomers struggle with the idea that they are going to lose all their friends and never have fun again once they begin their sober journey. This past weekend was a perfect of example of what a lie that is. This is just another example of the lies our brain tells us in an attempt to derail our recovery.

This weekend, over 50 fitness enthusiasts and people in recovery gathered to celebrate recovery, raise money for Recovery RX and take on the Goggins 4x4x48. 14 of us ran or rucked 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, and many others did Hero WODs or a combination of events. We all came together in solidarity to show the addicts and alcoholics in our community that we love and support them, and that recovery is not a solitary process.

The love and support I felt this weekend is something I could have never felt in active addiction and my recovery has unlocked the ability to both give and receive love. My sobriety is the best thing that ever happened to me and has filled my life with beautiful things. I will never stop trying to be a good example of God’s grace and the power of a healthy community.

So many people made this incredible event happen, but without you it never would have come to life like it has. My deepest gratitude.

We love you all. Happy Recovery Month.
